Mending Fences - progress.

The title Mending Fences lends itself to the physical and symbolic nature of this paintng. This is a continuation from my last landscape piece Restoration painted to capture the continual work being done to repair damage to the land and our relationships. It also ties in with my series on the New Zealand Land Wars, for which I have just completed the first piece. Mending Fences is set at Oropi near Tauranga New Zealand. One distinct feature in this landscape in the old pa site on the right. This Maori fortification was apparently never used in defence against the British as it was intended.

Please return to view the progress of this painting which I began work for on Thursday December 10th 2009.
